PC spyware question: My BitDefender quit scanning so I downloaded Spybot S&D for free...? My PC is clean but why did BitDefender (that i paid for) quit scanning? How is the free download for AdAware 2007? I just downloaded Spybot S&D to my computer and was thinking of putting AdAware 2007 on there too but want to know if its a good one to download. I had some older version of it from a while ago but when I ran the scan Spybot S&D caught it and labeled it in red as high risk. I want to download newer version of AdAware but will Spybot mark it every time as high risk?

Does Free Spybot Search & Destroy run in background all the time? I had 3 versions of java sun on pc. Uninstalled everything with the coffee cup and reinstalled latest version because another program told me my version of Java Sun was outdated and had security holes. While downloading Java, Spybot S&D came up twice telling me the download was trying to put malware on my computer and that it was blocking that part of download. One of them had to do with a keylogger and dont remember what other one was. I finished Java download and it seems to be working OK. My microsoft security essentials needs to be uninstalled and redone because it will not download any updates. I am supposed to uninstall all protective programs that run automatically in the background. I thought free version of spybot S&D was a manually started program so could leave it on pc while re doing MSE. Now I am not so sure. I just paid $75 to get Security Suite blocking/blackmail malware off this PC and cannot afford to do it again so REALLY need to get this pc protected with freeware ASAP! HELP and MANY THANKS ahead of time! I found sun java site using google. There were lots of places to get it. Which one is the RIGHT one? Do I need to uninstall Java again and reinstall it from correct site?

Should I download spybot search & destroy? Right now I have AVG Free and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed on my computer. I'm wondering if I should have something else like spybot S&D on there too. Yesterday I had the live-virus-scanner7.com try to download on my computer. I did click "NOT install". It came up like 5 or more times when I said no. I ran AGV free and downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and nothing bad has been found. My Mozilla instantly went into safe mode when I reopened it the next day. Since nothing was found is it safe to take out of safe mode? How do I do that? And should I install another maleware/adaware program and run more than one?

"While updating my Spybot S & D"? NOTE: Some time ago I had used a "FREE trial version of WinZip" and it has exhausted now.(Don't have the money for pd version). and there are files in there still(some possiably bad)and still have the Icon on my desktop, but is inoperative !! Malware? Spyware? How'd my files get corrupted?!? I was recently trying to download a trial of a Windows Customizer of sorts (WindowBlinds to be exact) and I'm more than sure I clicked an untrustworthy link for it. Stupid me fell for the description that said "Free Keygen" or whatever and went for it. I downloaded it under C:\<own foldername>\Dload\Programs. And when I ran it, nothing happened except the monitor blinked. I checked the folder the it was in and a dialogue box with a message popped up saying something along the lines that "Warning, <user name>, the files in this folder ... blah blah ...corrupted! We strongly suggest you download the spyware removal, please click the OK button...". Funnily enough, the only buttons available were "Yes" or "Cancel", so, I assumed I shouldn't trust it and decided to go get a separate program. Downloaded Spybot-S&D, installed it, updated it, etc. It's scanned the computer and found an unfunny amount of entries. One entry in particular was called Virtumonde. Any possible suggestions?

Help! my computer is infected with a virus!!!? anyway my laptop got infected by a virus or spyware or something of the like. i downloaded spybot s&d and avg free to get rid of it. plus i had trend micro pccillin on my computer. however, the pccillin never detected anthing, spybot couldnt get rid of one of the threats, and avg couldnt get rid of some of the threats either. for spybot, it detected a bunch but couldnt delete one of them, i think xp fraud something. it said restart computer and scan, so i did, but it still couldnt delete it, saying the program im trying to delete is still being used by system memory. avg would keep popping up saying threats detected, but i cant delete it. i could only put it in the virus vault, or it would be white-listed. when i would try to delete those, it would say "location not found." plus now i cant use the internet anymore. is my laptop done for? or is there anything else i can do? i forgot to say i also downloaded superanitspyware too. it worked, but i dont think it got rid of everything, because my computer is still messed up. oh yeah, i forgot to add that my desktop backround has turned all black and i cant change it. i cant download anymorestuff because i cant access the internet.

RUNDLL, Error loading C:\Windows\vttrss.dll? Yesterday I began encountering pop-ups in IE so I downloaded Spybot S&D, which found a "trojan" named vttrss.dll so I deleted it. However, ever since then I've been encountering this RUNDLL error everytime I start up windows, saying the specified module could not be found. I've tried looking around and following some solutions, like restarting in safe mode, turning off system restore, doing a clean-up, running Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner but to no avail. I've tried searching around for vttrss.dll but to no avail, so now I'm stumped. Any help? Tried downloading other registry cleaners but still hasn't been fixed. Is there a way to edit rundll so it doesn't try and load up vttrss.dll on startup anymore?

AVG Free has found adware.generic but it won't delete it?!?!? This thing has been on my system for a while and AVG Free has detected it but won't delete it without further admin permission. It's under HKLM something and avp, I've tried searching Windows but it won't find it. I think it's the kind of Adware that is undetectable by Windows. I've tried downloading Spybot Search And Destroy but it didn't find it, and I've tried downloading Ad-Aware Free but it only found a load of tracking cookies!!! I also have Kaspersky Trial Edition which expires in 5 days, so I'm stuck and need answers fast please!!!! Also Kapsersky locks itself from when it is installed so you can never end the process, probably why AVG couldn't delete it. Well it doesn't matter as I don't have long left on my Kapsersky Trial so when I delete that, if it still says that I have adware.generic THEN, I'll look into it further but until then I think this was a misunderstanding in my PC. I received a trail version of McAfee with my Dell. Should I remove it before adding other A/V and firewall? Help! Computers are a foreign land to me! I need help on computer security I bought Trend Micro and ??? :? Well, I bought Trend MIcro because the staples manager I know said it was the best. But I had free spybot S&D but I think it was a "bad" one, not a good download ,but now I know to download to desktop and scan. Besides Malwarebytes AntiMalware, do I need to keep using AVG, Zone Alarm, and Spybot: Search and Destroy ? Also, only my AVG (free version) and Zone Alarm (also free version) run automatically. Is that what "real time" means, and should I download the paid versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and/or Spybot: S&D to have this constant surveillance? Have you heard of Zlob downloaders? Despite having avg free, I had problems with site hijacking (I wanted to go to a site and got an advert etc instead). AVG wasnt picking it up but when I downloaded SPYBOT s&d, it picked up 2 Zlobs and a couple of other things. How do I get viruses like Trojan horse off of my computer? My computer has a ton of viruses on it. I can only open IE for about 5 minutes, then it closes. Should I download and install the google pack? http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html I need something to protect my computer. i have windows defender and i am keeping that but i dont really think it is the best. my norton trial ran out and the free spyware doctor is not cutting it. only the intelliguard is useful and it has prevented a bunch of things. the google pack has norton and spyware doctor (almost) full versions. but i am away of downloading anything from google if it will make the spyware situation worse. i can uncheck the boxes for google toolbar and that other shit, but still. i also have lavasoft adaware and spybot s&d. i am positive spybot doesnt pick up everything and lavasoft doesnt either. so spybot is gone now. although i think lavasoft is pretty good. i dont think any free antivirus or antispyware software really does the job good enough. i also cannot find any good cracks on piratebay that work, so the google pack seems like a good option. any advice or tips on this? thanks ps i tried avast and im not sure how it worked for u but it did not pick up anything that my other programs were picking up also whoever said the google pack would not help: i said the google pack has free versions of norton and spyware doctor what i really want to know is if the google pack can be trusted to not put spyware on my system. Need help for a Sony VAIO VGN-AR520E wit OS Vista Home Premium!? The problem is that when i leave my computer for like 15 minutes without using it, it freezes. It also freezes when I am trying to download music from my zune software. This of course is getting really annoying because I have to shut it down by holding the power button, and that cant be good for your pc. I already tried Virus scans, I run CCleaner, Spybot S&D, Eusings free registry repair, and paid 30 dollars for Reg Cure which is also a registry cleaner. But these programs are not helping. Any tips or solutions will be greatly appreciated. P.S. I also know that reformatting is a solution but how do i go about doing that(ONLY a last resort option for me). thanx in advance.

Computer problem not as malicious, but not fully fixed.? I've managed to remove Antivirus 2008XP I think, but I'm still getting redirected when following a link to antivirus programs. I keep telling people that I can't follow a link to any anti-virus programs, yet people keep sending me links -_- I am requesting that someone send me a program such as Mcafee, AVG or Spybot S&D to my email or send them in a link via mega upload. I've found Mega Upload is one of the only sites I can go to. I use Firefox as a browser and I also use an XP. I don't currently have any antivirus programs other than an expired trial of Norton. So I need a program sent either in email or via Mega Upload link. Sending a link to a site with a trial or any other free download program will NOT help, as it will redirect me or say the connection has timed out. My computer isn't fully fixed yet, I just need an antivirus program to fix what I've missed. Why is my notebook running so slow lately? I have defragmented my files, ran a disk cleanup, a registry fix, ran my SpyBot S&D, and as always, I keep my anti-virus (AVG Free) up to date and on. However, the last few days my computer has been running very slow. I haven't added any new programs or downloaded any files, so what could it be? I am running Windows XP, SP3, on a Dell M1210. The only items I have running at startup is AVG. Everything else is unchecked.

I want to finalise my virus and spyware protection and need advice.? I have a Packard Bell Easynote lap top on which I run Windows XP. I use it for every day regular usage on and off line. I protect it with the following security programs that were advised by my local branch of PC World. They told me I can protect my computer perfectly FREE OF CHARGE and recommended the following programs. All of which were FREE downloads. AVG 7.5 Anti Virus. AVG Spyware. Spybot S&D. Adaware 2007. Spyware Blaster and C Cleaner. I downloaded all of them as advised, but I have a question. My question is Do any of the above anti spyware programs offer real time protection, and if they don't can anyone recommend one that does, which is FREE and can be used with the programs I have without conflicting with them?

I have downloaded SuperAntiSpyware free version.I click on its icon it isn't opening for scanning? What is the best (TOTALLY FREE) Anti-Virus/Spyware available for download? I have tried AVG, Avast (I didn't like it at all), SuperAntispyware. I need one which doesn't only scan the computer but also REMOVES threats and viruses. I run my CC-Cleaner and CWShredder every two days. I'd prefer FREEWARE, rather than just a free trial. I know you don't get something for nothing, but right now, a full paying version is not an option. I also have tried SpyBot Search And Destroy (like Avast, I didn't like this one either). Also could you tell me which ones NOT to download, as some online scanners etc actually give you viruses and spyware. Thanks :) Sorry, right now I still have AVG Free addition, because it won't uninstall lolololol. Virgin Broadband is my provider, and, sorry I have no idea what Torrent sites are, and would have no clue how to use them lolololol.

What "free" steps can I do to help my computer run faster and with less errors? My computer has been getting slower and slower each day and i was wondering how i could make it run faster for free. I have CCleaner and it helps a little and I also have Spybot Search and Destroy and it also helps a little but my computers still slow and Id like to get it running faster and without seeing the "insert program here"(not responding)" message every 5 secs, it happens the most with my AOL but still happens alot with all my other programs. Can anyone give me a list of free programs that can BOTH scan AND fix all the problems on my PC for free, I downloaded registry-bot but since it costs money I got no-use out of it so please don't give me links to sites with a "free" download only to find out i have to pay to actual use the program, I need like virus scanners and any other thing anyone can suggest. I'd "love" to find a completely free registry fixer but I highly doubt such thing exists. If anyone could help with my computers delema Id so greatly appreciate it =) I already use CCleaner and Spybot Search and Destroy, I'd like know what else i can use though. Some Extra Information: I'm running on Windows Vista Premium 3 gigs of RAM 32 bit operating system 15 gigs of free memory on my hard-drive out of 100 ( still dont know how this happened) 85.MB out of 11 gb in HP Recovery (not even sure what this is) Whenever I use the registry thing on CCleaner it comes up with a ton of registry issues but all it says in how to fix them is "delete the registry value" is that even doing anything or is just ignoring the problem? Downloading Spybot which one? I want to download Spybot (now currently using AVG 8.0 Free) when i get to the Spybot page (http://www.spybot.com/en/download/index.html) i don't know which one to download? Eg There are these options and more Spybot - Search & Destroy©® 1.6.0 - Skins Spybot - Search & Destroy©® Mobile Editions RegAlyzer© 1.6.0.12 - More system analysis tools I'd really only run it once a fortnight, not everyday (AVG takes too long) but don't want to overload the computer! Am currently running Xp Sp2 AVG still runs everyday, but AVG doesnt really search out Spyware, which is why i want Spybot!

How do I get rid of allsecuritynotes.com as my homepage as well as system alert icons for FREE?! ;-)? This new homepage cannot be changed, not even in the internet options. There are 3 new flashing icons in the taskbar. System alert: Malware threats, System Alert!, and Your computer is infected! There are also a number of applications trying to download without permission?? Mostly Security downloads like some type of spyware or virus remover program. Oh, I'm also getting these popups that say stuff about pornography and nude sites...asking if I want to install a drive cleaner?????? Okay, I have already ran Spybot S&D, AVG anti-virus, and AVG anti-spyware. All are removing viruses and spyware that others are not catching. However, this has not fixed the problem. I went on to the nosnoop.com and had it run a full system scan. It found 38 dangerous and sever items.......but they want to charge me about $40 for them to remove it. Is the a program that will do automatic removal for free??? Thanks in advance!

How do I open Spybot on my Mac? I have a Mac and just really getting familiar with it. I was so used to the PC but I do enjoy the MAC more. Now I thought that the Mac was pretty set when it came to virus protection meaning it wasn't supposed to be attacked? I'm very confused as you can tell. Anyhow, this morning a pop up came up that I had actually seen on my PC. Saying threats have been detected, blah blah, and download this free. I wasn't about to just open it not knowing who the heck it came from! SO , now I went to Spybot Search and Destroy to download it. It is saved on my desktop now. How do I open and run it? If I right click it does not give me any options except to open with....I need to choose that program and I have NO IDEA what to use! Why is my computer so slow? I currently have Sky broadband and it takes me 45mins to download a 45 min tv show. I've been told that I should be able to download this in 10mins as I have 8meg broadband. What could be slowing down my connection? I share my connection (as you can also use it wirelessly) with my laptop and both are very slow. On my laptop it takes as long as 1hr to download an hour long podcast! My pc is connected through an ethernet cable and not wirelessly. On my computer it also takes ages to play games (on Miniclip etc.) as the characters move very slowly. The graphics are of a lower quality than on my laptop. I've asked around and been told I could have a virus on my computer and/ or spyware. I've downloaded SpyBot and ran it and destroyed anything its found. Is there any other free antivirus software you'd recommend? Basically, do you have any ideas as to why my computer is so slow and is there any antivirus software you'd recommend? Thanks a lot Anj xx
