Spyware Scanner Trojans Knowledge Base
Is there an easy to use and effective free download for an anti virus, worm, trojan scanner and remover? I didn't like Avast or avg. There has to be something. I want to just be able to click on it to scan and not have the program running in the background all the time. There are tons of free virus scanners, but the remover tool is what cost you. I just want a free download that will detect and remove viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, adware, all of it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks to all who helped me with my question. I think the best is for me to try them one at a time and see which works best for my many needs.
What is GOOD FREE Spyware, Malware, Worm, Trojan scanner or remover? I let my neighbor's son use my computer and he downloaded limewire, kazaa, bearshare, without my consent and now I have a stinking disease on my computer that do not want to leave, even McAfee can't help me after 4 full scans. Whatever this disease is seems to be hiding on my computer. I bought and downloaded one anti-spyware that couldn't even find this thing and lost money. I just now prefer to use something free and effective. PLEASE, if you know something that is GOOD at detecting those smart-a$$ viruses that hides on your computer please let me know. I would like something FREE since I wasted money on a anti-spyware that turned out to be weak and light-weight. P.S.- This stinking virus is so bad it's affecting my current Anti-virus software, and it even blocks the downloads of other anti-spywares that I attempt to download. Thanks!
what is the best virus/spyware/malware scanner? Can someone please tell me what is the best virus scanner? I had Norton and I got so many viruses and malware and spyware. Then I installed avast! which detects a lot of things but doesnt remove it. It keeps alerting me a trojan was found and I can delete/move to chest and then after a while it comes back. I have AdAware 2008 and did a full scan and still avast! is telling me I have trojans. I even have Windows Defender which does nothing. I am using Vista and my comp is slowing down because I have Norton, Avast! , Win Defender and AdAware all running yet viruses keep coming. Norton tells me I have bloodhound virus. Avast! tells me I have DNSChanger Avast! also shows the following: Win32:Delf-IWD [Trj] in C:\Windows\system32\andt.sys Other viruses are found in: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ I even disabled system restore and did boot scans, full scans in safemode.

I keep getting a pop up message ' Windows has detected spyware'? My computer started acting crazy, so I downloaded the 90 day version of Norton and ran the scanner and everything and it sai it removed 6 spyware trojans or what not. I already had Adware on my computer, but somehow it didn't catch the spyware. Even after removing what Norton found, the pop up screen keeps popping up every 2 minutes. I declined to order the spyware program that pop up windown kept recommending figuring it was more software. Does anyone know how to completely remove whatever spyware is lurking in my computer and what program to use since Norton doesn't seem to be eliminating it all. Thanks very much in advance!!!! (I get to work from hom after my normal 10 hour day, but since this spyware is on my comp I've been having to stay at the office for 6 more hours!!! ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!)
How can I get rid of the Outerinfo Trojan when no spyware or antivirus scans will install (please read full)? I have the outerinfo trojan and have downloaded multiple spyware and antivirus programs (norton 2007 trial, superantispyware, avg, adaware), but whenever I click on the downloaded installation program I'll get an error message saying something like "Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory was requested<' or some other random ones that won't let me install them. I've used the OiUninstaller several times and restarted each time. I've removed any programs win the "oin" in them, or "outerinfo," I've gone into safemode to try the scanners, but no luck. I tried to restore my system, but the only date listed is yesterday, and this has been going on since Saturday. I also got a Hijack This listing, but I don't know where I can and can't post it, and it seems very complicated, plus the message boards I've gone to seem very uninviting about it. What can I do?
Backdoor IRC.Flood. This trojan has been stopped by Spyware Doctor 3 times today. ? I was copying documents today using my scanner and this trojan was flagged up by Spyware Doctor as attempting to gain entry. SD removed it. Is anybody else getting this thing? I was connected to the net at the time, but not using it. There is a mystery here. My scanner is Epson Perfection 2480 Photo. I cannot believe it is anything to do with the scanner.

Why does Sims 2 Deluxe give me all these viruses? First, off the bat, I'll say that it's a perfectly legal copy(NOT DOWNLOADED), from Best Buy. But for some reason, after I install the game, my virus/spyware scanner, detects a whole bunch of malicious stuff, including, but not limited to malware, and trojans. This always happens when I install the game. There is nothing else that I did, that could bring these. Is this because of Securom?
What are some good virus and spyware scanners u can run in safemode? i have a computer im trying to clean up for a friend. she keeps getting these pop ups on her computer that are not exactly appropriate for her 5 year old son to see. so i was going to run a virus and spyware scanner in safe mode to get the last parts off her system to have it completely clean. what is a good scanner that can run in safe mode? p.s. i dont have a virus name or anything like that. i believe im just looking for a simple pain trojan horse Thanks guys
Okay! serious help here! Concerning the Trojan Screen Shot Spyware? Virus or whatever....? Okay about 1 hour ago, I was on the internet browsing around, and all of a sudden my pc shuts down... Okay, whatever I figured a plug came out or something, so I go back an turn it on... Now I turn it on and a pop-up pops on my screen and says something about me having a spyware virus the trojan spyware fung and it said it screen shots all my info, etc... So then It says enable firewall, to take this virus out or w/e... So I click enable thinking it was legit.. So then I clicked on the internet explorer and seen a big advertisement about some anti-spyware, but it looked so legit it, but I was scared to download it even though it was telling me to (but!! I never downloaded the fake anti-spyware all I did was click enable firewall on the pop-up, but not sure if It did anything because every ten minutes that pop-up kept popping up)... So then I asked a few people and posted it up on a few websites on what I should do.. And a guy told me to go to bleepingcomputer.com, and download some kind of malware virus scanner or something to delete this Spyware or whatever.. So I followed the instructions thoroughly and did every step... but I want to make sure if this virus is successfully out, or maybe that bleepingcomputer.com was a gimmick?? So can anyone help me, and let me know if everythings okay... Please help.
A few questions about Kaspersky / Spyware / Processes ! Have a look !? A few related questsions. I have a few processes running and there are one or two I am unsure of after checking their information on line. I have spoolsv.exe running and I was told that was for printer/fax applications which I never use ..in which case it could be a trojan etc. Now I dont want to go deleting anything straight away so my question is how can I scan it ? Im using Kaspersky 7.0 and the options I have there are SCAN MY COMPUTER or VIRUS SCAN . They dont seem to have a spyware scan . So is there a good free safe spyware scanner I can download ? Also will I have to remove my kaspersky or can these 2 programs coexist ? Any info on spool would be apprecaited , I was advised not to delete unless certain so doing some homework first. Yesterday I had 26 processes running ( which is not a lot _) but today I have 29 and I havent been on it and nothing is updating or downloading so just want to give it a check. If the spyware program checks for adware etc that would be good -ty Also if this helps ..this is what is in my spool folder in system 32 ...are they all good ? WINSPOOL ( device driver 143kb ) * spoolss.dll ( application extension 73kb ) * spoolsv ( application 57kb ) winspool ( device driver 143 kb ) * winspool ( application 3kb ) the ones with stars were all modified on the 8th of april this year . maybe just a windows update? or DUM DUM DUUUUM TROJANS ! :p
STOPzilla/ Spyware help please? Someone downloaded AntiVirus2008 on a computer I was working on. It ended up being a trojan program or malware (not sure what exactly to call it). I've tried to delete/ unistall the program, tried to manually remove it, no luck. EVERY spyware scanner I've downloaded will find it, but won't remove it without me paying for a full version. Anyone have a email/ password or key for STOPzilla 5.0 or Spyhunter? AVG didn't catch it, I've ran it multiple times. I'd appreciate any help with this. I just need the virus off and then I'll uninstall these programs and use AVG.
Can someone help me with some sneaky adware? I recently got bombarded with malware from some internet explorer exploit. As soon as this happened, literally hundreds, if not thousands of various trojans, spyware, and adware were immediately installed on my computer (this included some real nasties, and also rogue antispyware programs like BraveSentry. For about a week, I couldn't even get into Windows (through normal mode, safe mode, or any other means). I had to boot to one of my dad's old hard drives just to run the recommended anti-malware/virus scanner programs on my drive. So far I've run AVG, PC Tools, SuperAntiSpyware, and A-squared (free versions all updated with current definitions), but I still have some sneaky adware lingering on my computer somewhere. I know this because frequently when I open a new Mozilla Firefox window (I'm not using IE anymore since this happened), it opens popups in internet explorer, along with other processes which begin to execute. PC Tools Onguard protection finds some of these processes. However, it does not find all the processes, and therefore removes/quarantines the ones it finds. But I'm still getting adware and finding my computer is not performing the way it should be. Are there any other adware scanners I should run? I'm losing hope and I fear I may have to simply reformat the drive. Is it absolutely necessary to run every single adware scanner to get rid of this crap? Throw me your recommendations. Ok, I tried the simple solutions first. Deleting all temp/temp internet files folders. I am still getting annoying popups but I haven't rebooted yet. I'm about to reboot. If I still get them, then it's onto adaware/spybot, and then finally I'll go with the hardest solutions. I'm a logical guy, so let's start simple first! Deleting temp internet files had no effect. I'm running Spybot right now, and then I'll download and run Adaware. I downloaded roguespyfix or whatever it is, but it says that's more for SpywareQuake and rogue antispyware infections. I think I already have gotten rid of BraveSentry (I guess you figured I still was infected with it). But thanks for the input anyway. I'm going to try all the suggestions, it's worth it to me to not have to reformat. Keep 'em coming, guys.

Help woth trojan / spyware? Ok, I asked this question before. This was my last post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I was playing a game (MMORPG) called World of warcraft. I got mail form Blizzard (the people who make it) in game. They said my PC may be infected with a key logger. (They must have a background scanner or something.) The mail said they suspect my computer may have a key logger or trojan virus which can steal details off my account, user name and password etc. I didn't really mind much. Was only a world of warcraft account. I scrolled on down the message and it said that not only can this infection steal my World of warcraft account details, it could also steal other personal information which has nothing to do with the game. (Like credit card details!) I have an anti virus, but I never got round to updating it recently. I uninstalled that one and reinstalled AVG free in replacement. (Am currently scanning.) My credit card details are saved on my computer, but, if I do have a key logger or trojan, will they be able to read them? Or will I have to input them once again for the virus to be able to read it? (They way it is in at the moment is that if I go to pay for something, I type in the first letter and the whole number comes up.) Will it be able to hack into that, or will I have to fully re enter the credit card No. again in the process of paying for something for the virus to send away the information live? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And, yes. The mail I got had the Blizzard game master Representative logo, which no player can obtain. So it was not spam. I checked with Hijackthis, AVG, spybot and mailware bites. Only found a few cookies (As far as I am aware.) Would it be safe to sat that is a flase alarm on Blizzards half? (My account details have yet to be stolen.) Or should I keep checking with other forms ofr spyware removes untill I find something? THanks for any help you cna give me in advance.
F-Secure...? When using F-Secure virus/spyware free scanner and remover, does it detect all kind of viruses and spyware? trojans? worms? and all of that stuff? Thank's to those who give a decent answer.
How to remove Spyware/Virus/Keyloggers? I recently downloaded the trial version of Spyware Doctor 6 and ran a scan. The scanner picked up several trojan viruses and a Keylogging program. The keylogger was the biggest problem for me since i play World Of Warcraft. I pressed fix problems (or w/e it says on the program) and it tells me i must purchase the full version to remove the viruses/trojans/keyloggers etc. I do not want to pay 30$ to do so and im sure theres free programs that can do the same thing... i just havnt found any yet. I have spybot S&D and ran it. It caught/found no threats(viruses/trojans, etc.). Since it did not find the problems spyware doctotr did i cannot remove them ><. As you can see this puts me in a problem. I just ran a symantec antivirus Full Scan about 12 minutes ago so it should be awhile until its finished. All of the programs i used ( Spybot S&D, Symantec Antivirus) are all updated so there isnt anything that hasnt been added to the programs. I need 2 find a program like S. doc. but is free, ty
Help!! I messed up BAD! Web Pages have Lines, blanks, dashes, missing words paragraphs!??? OMG, I've done so much in the last day to my computer, there's no way I can give details. I've been running every spyware, trojan, virus scanner I could find as dictated by Major Geeks.com, but in the process, I've also messed with my registry & god knows what all. I have a Dell, WinXP, using ie7, maxthon and firefox browsers. My problem: When I go to a web page, information is missing big time--there will be the main headers, but like, threads have questions, but blank boxes where the answers are. I tried to sign into MajorGeeks, but the UserName box doesn't show anything with I type! If I do an eBay search, in the dropdown box there should be about 8 sort choices listed for me to click on, but all i get is " +shipment" twice!? IT's really weird! I can't reinstall XP. My cd/rom rw drive is broken. Can anyone offer any advice? tks mypet! I got the BSOD (25th time today) when I 1st tried to reply. Did your Page View thing & no help there. Off to bed now. Thanks for the offer to help more--you may hear from me tomorrow or Saturday if I don't get this fixed!
Why does Windows OneCare detect "spyware" and "viruses" that my other programs don't? Every now and then I'll run the Windows OneCare free scanner, and everytime I do it detects "Trojans" within Java etc. My Adware and Avast AntiVirus don't detect a darned thing. The same with the registry scanner - CCleaner doesn't detect anything but the OneCare scanner does. Do they "detect" things to legitimize themselves? Why does this detect things and the other scanners detect nothing?
Good program or way to detect trojan or spyware? Well, recently scince Ive installed a lot of programs on my pc, and a lot of them just random programs Ive found on the internet (I know Im an idiot), but found out that a lot of proceses are going on my pc. I uninstalled all the programs, but there a lot of proceses still going on. I need to find a way to delete them, find whats causing them and see if its a virus. For example, lately, the System.exe process, sometimes all of a sudden begins using up 75,000kb of space when its usually around 44kb (thats bad scince my pc has 260mb of RAM). I need to find a way to stop it and find any errors in malicious proceses. Before I had 45 proces running nearly all the time, now I have 53. Anybody know a way to detect the bad ones, or maybe spyware and trojans? As well as deleting the uninstalled programs' proceses wich are just taking up disk space on my pc. Any programs, and on line scanners are apreciated. IM in a hurry, so itll be a quick 10pts for pretty much any answer >.>

Trojans on my computer - How do I remove them for free? My friend had my computer during the weekend, and when I got it back, it was full of trojans. Windows Defender found a few and "removed" them, but I can tell there are still some on here. Fake virus protection boxes keep popping up, telling me to download Antivirus 360, but I can tell its in fact an internet explorer box, and the url reads something like: antimalwareonlinescan.com Other sites have popped up, like Mediaresponder.com and Stopzilla.com I can also tell that my computer is running alot slower, and I think my CPU usage is higher than usual. I believe this is what I have. However, the screenshot on this website differs completely from what my screen looks like. http://remove-malware.net/how-to-remove-antimalwareonlinescancom-hijacker/ Anyway, I downloaded the "free" scanner and remover, and it (Spyware Doctor) was able to find the trojans, but it said that I must buy the full version in order to remove them. However, it gave me the files and registry links that I could manually delete myself. I tried deleting some of the files, which are located in C:\windows\system32, but most of them said "You need permission to perform this action", with "Destination Folder Access Denied" in the toolbar and Try Again and Cancel as my options. Try Again just brings the same error, while Cancel obviously cancels the deletion. I do now know how to delete Registry entries, so I didn't even try to yet. So what should I do? Here is what I'm hoping I can get help with: -A download to a FREE remover of the trojan(s) -Help on how to delete the files and registry entries -Another option? Thanks in advance guys, I really need some major, precise help with this one. How do I get rid of a virus? My computer has been really slow and giving me weird pop-ups suddenly, for everything from anti-spyware to dating sites. At first I thought it was spyware, but I ran my virus scanner a few times and every time I do, it finds 5-10 trojans and deletes them. There are two that the antivirus software hasn't been able to get rid of, and I keep getting more and more. Can anyone tell me what it is that's doing this, why I am getting so many trojans all of a sudden, and how to get rid of it? Thanks so much!
why spyware is getting past 3 different scanners (they see it but cant delete it)? i have a dual boot comp so this is how im posting. i recently put vista on my comp (bout 3 weeks ago) and over the last week the internet has been painfully slow (but fine on xp) and in google when i search, down the bottom where it says waiting for Http://www.google.com/search............................... and so on then an ip address, for some reason now it says waiting for Http://www.copy-book.com then waiting for google.com. the results look fine but when i click one result it open a new tab says about:blank then redirects to heaps of different sites including www.copy-book, click.smartbizsearch.com and many others, after googling on xp for a while it appears that its spyware, since then i downloaded heaps of different trusted spyware and virus killers. when using them they all Say 3 counts found: zlob dns changer and 2 trojan horses. spyware search and destroy or spy bot whatever its called was able to remove them all others couldn't suddenly everything was back to normal but 2 days later it happened again and now nothing gets rid of them (the same viruses and spyware believe it or not) and i feel like a Calculator is more powerful than this thing right now can someone please help i am at the point of desperation here One More Note: when right clicking the main google page on vista and xp and going view source the two supposedly same google pages are different in source when pressing ctrl+F and typing in copybook it comes up 4 times in vista none in xp. One Other Note: yes i have tried deleting and blocking cookies and blocking copy book, oh and when i type copybooks url in the address bar it doesnt work, when i google anything close to how to fix spyware or "in google copy book always comes up" it just reverts to my last search or closes the browser, and even blocks updates to my scanners like avg free, i have tried everything i can think of. any help appreciated

Does any one know what I can do? Few days ago I was online and a download popped up and load on my computer. I AntispywareXP2009. There was no ok or cancel to stop it and it loaded fast. I have a lot of spyware blockers and none of them caught this. My sister had the same one get on her computer. My dad has reformatted her hard drive and it keeps coming back. I was told by a friend that the only way he knows how to get rid of it is to wipe the hard drive and load a new OS on the computer then re-load XP on. Now here is my problem. I have a Averatec 3700 AV3715-EH1 laptop and all the information drivers and such are loaded on the hard drive, no back up/ re-boot/ recovery disk. So when I load the new OS I will lose all that info. Could some one tell me where to find the disk or drivers for my computer or how to get this spyware/trojan off my computer before it does real damage to my computer? Also a GOOD anti-spyware/ trojan/ malware/ virus scanner/ blocker? Ok programs I have Spybot, Ad-aware, McAfee, Ad-Watch, and Malwarebytes.
how can I remove a trojan and adware from my computer? My computer has been infected by a Trojan and Adware infection. I've tried using different programs such as Trendmicro, Ad-Aware, Spybot, BitDefender Scanner, CounterSpy, AVG Anti-Spyware, Windows Defender. They have been able to detect some things but for some reason it can not quarantine nor remove them completely. I just ran the BitDefender again and it says my computer is infected with: Adware.AWS.A (10 issues left), Adware.VDM (4 issues left), and Trojan.PWS.Lineage.UZH (2 issues left). I have tried to remove and delete them but BitDefender says no action is possible. If anyone knows how to remove these infections please let me know. I've tried all different types of online scanners, trial software but none seem to have the ability to detect or remove them. Only BitDefender has been able to detect those 3 but cannot remove it. I just ran BitDefender in Sade Mode, and the results were the same. It found I had thouse three things again, but were unable to disinfect, quarantine, delete. I'm not sure what else to do. I'll try using the online scanners that you guys mentioned

How do i remove this Malware program?? not detected by scanners!!? Hi. I accidentally downloaded and installed a mystery program from the internet. It called itself "ActiveX" control...but upon installing it, i realized that it was Malware! Now, i have a mystery "spyware scanner" icon on my toolbar that keeps popping up saying i have this or that virus/trojan/etc. and prompting me to click the bubble to download various spyware removal programs. Furthermore, when I open the Internet, i am immediately directed to a generic looking spyware website instead of my homepage. (i think its called alloversafety.com) I did a virus and a spyware scan with the programs i already have, and they did not pick up anything suspicious. I guess that is cause I (stupidly) manually installed this Malware myself. Is this a common type of Malware. (pretending to be a spyware alert, irreversibly changing my homepage, popping up with false warnings, etc)? How can i find and remove this Malware??
Why do spyware scannes pic up different type of spyware? antivirus scanners can pic up the same, but when you do spyware different ones find differnet kinds, im not talking about tracking cookies other. Spyware doctor, spysweeper, and counter cpy all pick up different kinds of spyware on your computer, why is this. Some may find different tool bars, trojans, or high jackers on your pc.
my computer monitor, goes 'crazy' opening all kinds of windows, etc..i reinstalled 3 times, 8 online scans! i have reinstalled xpsp2 3 times in the last 3 days..i checked with 8 reputable online scanners, etc..no virus, no spyware, trojans, etc. i did this, because after starting at the desktop, as i start to open multiple windows(maybe 5-7), the computer goes nuts, opening all kinds of windows i haven't asked to open, and my mouse can barely keep up with deleting them. i was positive it was the behavior of a virus/trojan,etc...but avast, mcafee, norton, trendmicro, etc. couldn't find anything, but some harmless spyware..when i reformated, i deliberately deleted, entered, then L, deleted(twice..then set up partitions, etc. dell sent me a thanks for paying off your computer(40./month for 4 years!)..now it seems to be garbage?!! any advice would be appreciated. i am using Ccleaner, system suite(fix-it by avanquest), registry mechanic and abc spell check.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the first answer, add mcafee site advisor was helpful, but not the solution..still looking for answers..this is a 4 year old dimension dell pentium 4..it runs out of memory fast too..
I have random pop ups (virus/spyware/whatever)? This isn't normal for my comp. I know I've had a few trojans, but I got rid of them with malwarebytes anti-malware scanner. But theres one thing still lurking in my comp thats causing the pop ups. I've scanned with: AVG Free malwarebytes anti-malware Spysubtract And Ad-aware Any scanners or things you can recommend to get rid of this annoying infection??

What did u use to remove them? yeah I usually get my things from www.download.com i downloaded ad-aware...hijackthis.. .Ccleaner... .spyware killer...trend micro scanner online... trend micro usually does it but while it is scanning the pop ups pop up and take up all of my taskbar and it freezes and my scanning doesnt get to finish. ooh and my antivirus is avg .. and that can't get them off either. can somebody please help me ? i'm going nuts. i want to try to fix it myself before i take the pc to anyone.
Spyware detected on my computer? My husband was trying to download porn, now my desktop has a permanent message saying that I have spyware, that my IP address has been hijacked, and I keep getting pop ups telling my to upgrade my spyware protection. These keep comming from Microsoft. But I've run a scan with McAffee and though the scanner hasn't detected anything yet, I get McAffee pop-ups telling me that trojans have been found and removed! I don't know what the heck is going on or what to do! I don't trust anything anymore! Why do I have to keep paying more money for protection I was already supposed to have?!?! How do I get rid of this. Please someone who knows for sure, not just guesses and lists and lists of potential programs! What REALLY works?
F-Secure, please answer, really worried...? Okay I used F-Secure free scanner to detect viruses/spyware/malware/trojans/worms and all of those dirty things, right now it has scanned my entire computer (full computer scan) and is cleaning what it found, well it has been the same thing for over 1 hour (7/50) could the program have frozen? or what? This is what it looks like: Cleaning Processing... (7/50) Currently Cleaning: Tracking Cookie Action: Disinfect & Submit My bad (typo), it has been cleaning the same infection for over an hour...
i need help with this virus/spyware? this virus/spyware, i think its spyware but im not 100%, is giving my computer the fight of its life, i have tried just about every scan i could, ranging from malwarebytes, superantispyware, a-squared, vundofix, avg, avast, mcafee, windows defender, now ill explain exactly whats going on and the symptoms, hopefully somebody can diagnose, this is a tricky SOB ok, first off its disabling pictures from showing on my web browser, now the scans ive used says its vundo/trojans and some adwares etc, i get pop ups saying i got spyware/viruses i know their phony, i cant access some sites at all, especially if the name vundo and removal are in the adress/descriptions etc, so i had to struggle to get alot of the scans i have, some of the scanners do detect it, and do delete it, but it seems to re-appear, ive scanned in safe mode, it still does. now theres this unknown file called "KARNA" its a DAT file, if i delete it, it simply comes back. i get backdoors showing in the scans, but it seems theirs something the scans just cant find, ive even tried manually removing what ever i could find, from registry keys, files what ever i could. i was gone when my computer got this virus, but my sis told me all she did was try n get codes for myspace, i think she may have downloaded something or been hijacked.. this is a complicated mess well im pretty sure it wasnt porn, computers right in the living room ha with a house full of people, complicated very

Trojan alerts on my computer? I just randomly got alerts for three different trojans from my virus scanners, I am now running full checks for spyware and other viruses, and I have deleted the files that the my virus scanner picked up as trojans. Have I done the right thing and is there anything else I can do to help protect my computer? How can I check that the files are really gone?
Something has infected my computer!? Yesterday night I was surfing the internet and all of a sudden my computer restarted by itself. I knew it wasn't a good sign...When I boot my computer back up, there is a new icon in my quick launch toolbar the shape of a red circle with a red x. At random times and when I put my mouse over it it reads, "Your computer is infected! Windows has detected spyware infection! It is recommended to use special antispyware tools to pervent data loss. Windows will now download and install the most up-to-date antispyware for you. Click here to protect your computer from spyware". Of cource my brother was stupid enough to click it and my antivirus caught the trojan horse attempting to infect my computer. So I ran my antivirus and it caught a about 9 more trojans and I ran my adware and spyware scanners which came up with nothing. I also tried system restore to the day before this started and the icon remained. My question is, how can I get rid of that annoying icon on my quick launch?

Can I trust this site? I opened up Firefox today and got redirected to scanner.av-best.info. It said I have multiple viruses, spyware, trojans, and keyloggers. I just wanted to know if this was a reputable site before I did anything. I've started a scan of my entire computer with the AntiVirus program already on my computer (iolo AntiVirus). When ever I click anywhere on the page the prompt to save the AntiVirusInstaller comes up, nothing is click-able. The scan still hasn't found anything and it seems to only happen when I go to a certain website; lyricsmode.com
I have ALOT of viruses? I used several scanners and they all say I have multiple viruses, threats, trojans, spyware, and addware. What is a good profesional Virus scanner and remover that I should buy? The most important thing is that it deletes the threats.
Need help with malware problem (Hijackthis log included)? The other day, someone gave me a link to a website filled with viruses/spyware/trojans. I have ESET Antivirus installed, and it did qurantine many files. I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes and Eset. It found some infections, and removed them. After scanning again (regular and safe mode) there were no more infections. However, recently, my computer has been acting strange. It loads a lot slower, even though I optomize it with Tune Up Utilities and Speed up My PC, it freezes frequently, and some of my toolbars switched language (like my web security guard toolbar) I am not sure if the virus is still here. Therefore, I seek help. Search and Destroy didn't find anything, neither did any other scanner. My computer is really slow, it has taken me over 15 minutes just to write this message. I am not that good with computer vocab, so please try to help out in a simple way. is firefox hard for a beginner to install, i have only been using the cpu for 8 months, i have winxp-sp2 Help! i did have firefox installed but had to take it out because i had some trojans and spyware and when i did a printout it said from firefox default so i panicked and took it out, it kept shutting down on me and I did not install. So I really went in to it blind I felt. Also now i have the two spyware programs running Avg and Norton I had Spybot prior to Norton and I already feel I have made a mistake taking that out(they both ran together, but I understand spybot is not the same thing)I know its not a good idea but don't know which one to uninstall because i hear avg is the best even though you pay for Norton and its good too but a memory hog . I must be able to disable the email scanner on one of them if that is the only problem i have heard about. And that would be Norton. I guess. Norton found 2 trojans that avg missed for the record. Please advise before I mess with more options I shouldn't touch. I don't know how this message board works and posted earlier but this says i didn't.
Problem with Mac and possible virus? I have had my mac for a year and a half now and have never had any problems with it. Recently the internet has been running a bit slowly so I went through the whole cleaning up files, and deleting cookies, finding all the junk ect. I have backed up everything onto an external drive. I ran a McAfee virus scanner and it found one potential problem that i easily found and erased. The ran it again and this is the report: 0 possible infection(s). 0 file(s) repaired. 0 file(s) deleted. 1 file(s) not scanned. Total files: 18007 I want to know why there is one file that it will not scan and if it is a possible virus/trojan horse or whatever. I am not a computer genius but i am not ignorant either and i know that macs can get spyware, trojans and whatnot. Just curious as to what that may have meant. thanks
Web pages are disappearing and virus blockers are failing!? First of all I noticed that the automatic check for AVG free was turned off. When I tried to turn it on, it said that I needed to go to Control Panel>System>Automatic Updates to turn it on manually. When I when there, it said that automatic updates were already on. To make sure, I hit apply, and then checked AVG. It was still off. So I tried running MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to see if there were any viruses. It would not turn on at all. When I tried to go to www.malwarebytes.org, it said there was no web page with that address. Assuming that I spelled the website wrong, I went to google and searched for malwarebytes and got the same websites. They both would not work. I KNOW these web pages exist, but they keep disappearing. Finally, I searched for a malware remover on google and I got a link to geek squad free spyware scanner. I clicked on the link and went to the website. There was another link for the actual scan. I clicked on it, and it said that the web page didn't exist. There are so many problems that are all occuring at once. And for extra information, the trojan horses, SHeur and SHeur2, keep attacking. The two trojans are constantly attacking, multiplying, and changing their extensions. Since the viruses started attacking, I also started getting random sites appearing for no reason. They don't appear in the format of a pop-up like the "Click here for a _______", but they seem like actual websites that just open at random. Can anyone help me, please? In addition, AVG will not update and cannot connect to the AVG website.
Computering tips (Repost to advertise this guide freely)? Opinion : Well,it's troublesome doing all these steps to maintain a clean computer, the worst is,when the user doesn't know that his/her computer is infected. Cause not all harmful stuffs has Obvious Symptoms. -------------------------- Basic Browser Setting Browser - Firefox latest version Settings - Under tools button, click option,go privacy tab. *Un tick all the history settings *Un tick all the cookies settings, enable cookie only (not third party cookies) when you're login at website. *Untick ask before clearing privacy data. *Go to security tab, untick all the passwords settings. *Go to advanced tab, make the offline storage to zero mb Internet Options Settings *Tick all the correct internet settings, untick those save passwords etc. *Under security tab, make internet medium setting *Under security tab,Local intranet is High setting, will not have negative effects on the sites that you're viewing. *Under security tab,Trust sites is also High setting, will not have negative effects on the sites that you're viewing. *Under security tab,Restricted site is also High or Custom settings (Custom probably by anti spyware, etc like spybot listed the correct restricted site settings in there) *Under privacy tab, click advanced, prompt for first party cookies (applies to internet explorer,so prompt is the best setting) ,and must tick block third party cookies. *Under content tab,un tick all the Auto Complete settings. --------------------------------------... Anti Virus Softwares Recommend Avira,Avast,Norton but not Mcafee,AVG etc. *Avira highest detection rates, excellent scannings, but the free edition only contain anti virus protection.(Top anti virus detection rates) *Avast, second highest detection rates, excellent Boot-time scan and tons of protection layers of shields (Much more overall protection, decent detection rates too) *Norton 2009,i think it's an complete overhaul version, the memory usage is superb low, extremely rare, since norton is known as system hog, Previous versions used too much unnecessary memory, slows computer down tremendously. The detection rates is good, not sure how much though. The protection is advanced type as stated. Can try by downloading the trail version(Lower detection rates but memory usage is quite low) --------------------------------------... Anti Spywares freewares *Spybot search & destory, protects system settings and so on(Must have) *Spyware Blaster,an anti spyware layer of protection(Must have) *Advanced systemcare 3,nice freeware of registry cleaner + spyware defense provided by iobit. (Though the free edition lacks deep scan etc,but still useful) *Ccleaner --------------------------------------... Excellent Anti Spyware Scanners *Not protection, unless you pay for it *Ad aware 2008 *Malwarebytes *Super anti spyware *Of course, make sure you use the correct settings in every software you uses, common sense. Download Websites Recommendations FileHippo.com - Download Free Software Free Software Downloads and Reviews - Download.com Reformatting Use the detailed reformat instead of quick reformat, its much more effective but much more longer duration...it's safer though. Then re-download all the window updates from the microsoft website, and download an anti virus and updated it before you download any other softwares Scannings It's best to scan things in safe mode, and use the folder option settings in computer correctly for scanning purpose *shows hidden files and folders *Un-tick hide protection operating system files *Un-tick hide extension for known file types *Turn off System Restore, some trojans tends to hide in there etc. Obviously its to let it scan the whole computer or drive thoroughly. Scanning in Safe mode is quite necessary too,Safe mode is F8 key. **Credit to Twtew from Yahoo Answer, under the Title ''Basic computering guide''. Purpose : Obviously not for spamming, just want to post something useful. And nowadays theres a lot harmful stuffs even if you did not visit adult sites. Modified : To add this line, won't be replying to any posts/questions if theres any, just as i mentioned, just to post something useful only.
How do I check that my laptop is free of malware, spyware, viruses and etc? I have HP laptop and I use vista, I have installed and run avast anti virus and also have my hp total care adviser which tells me that my firewall is running and my internet protection is working, however it warns me that I have no anitvirus software? does it just want me to download norton or something? or is my computer at risk? also ...I was browsing the internet and something came up, my page changed to look like 'my computer' area showing my folders as it would if I were in 'my computer', it told me it was an online scanner or protection and that I had malware and prompted me to download this personal protection thing and delete something called trojan, it was also showing red flashing writing underneath my folders saying 145 (or whatever the number) trojans found! ..I downloaded that and went along with it...now Im so confused and wondering if I installed something I shouldn't have? if it was legit? also wondering how I would scan my computer completely to ensure its free of malware and viruses and stuff that can mess up my computer...I know this is a long winded question but Im not a computer expert or anywhere close and I want to make sure its free of all that stuf

Whats up with my computer? It seems like the family computer kills power supplies for fun....back in june there was a thunderstorm and the power went off ( it wasnt plugged into a surge protector at the time). It worked fine for about 3 hours until i opened it up and added a gig of RAM. I plugged it back in and it didnt work. I figured out the power supply was dead and i had to buy a new one. Aroudn that same time i was workin on the computer im using right now(A great machine btw). So i fixed the other one and put it in the living room. Now a day ago my sisters said the computer was running really really slow. It was completley infested with viruses (Trojans, Worms, Spyware, Adware, Malware) everything....I tried using virus scanners and deleting everything manually but they just kept coming back. I decided to just do a complete system restore and everything went fine. Until I i opened it up to remove the PCi adapter card. I closed it up and plugged it in. It started up and worked fine. Ok so i shut it off because i had just removed programs that had come with the computer. I tried to turn it back on but it would not. I tmade the same noises it had made the last time and i realised the power supply was dead. I tried plugging it in somewhere else but it still didnt do anything.....Now i have to buy ANOTHER new power supply.... What is going on why do the power supplies keep dieng?!? Both times when i opened it i didnt even come close to touching it and they still die.... Also after the first time i bought a surge protector for it so that couldnt of been it. Is there a reason they died? the first power supply was what came with the machine the second my friend told (the computer guy at the time) was good and it cost me 60 bucks. It was very nice looking shiny with thick wires in see through blue plastic.... So yea...I have no clue why it stopped working i didnt even touch it..
What is this problem and how can I fix it? I know that my boyfriend goes to all those sites like rotten.com and uselessjunk.com. So in the process, he got trojans, spyware, and adware on my computer from all the links on there. I used AVG to scan for viruses, and it wiped out some of it. I used spybot and ad aware to try to get rid of some of the spyware. So before, I had my desktop as a warning message (I have windows xp) telling me my computer was infected with spyware. After multiple scans, I restarted and the warning message is not there anymore, now its just a plain blue. However, my computer seems somewhat cleared but is running a little slow still. Also, when I go to change my desktop back, I can only do it by selecting a picture and put "set as desktop background" I can not get into the screen saver or desktop portion in my control panel. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Also, AVG only takes serious threats. It took 5 trojans, but didnt take out any of the harmful tracking cookies. I know theres a way to erase all my cookies, but I can't remember how. Can someone tell me how I can erase all my cookies? Is that a good idea, or will that mess something up? And how can I restore my control panel? And lastly, is there any other scanners I could use that may clear up the last of the problems? Thank you.
so what are good trojan removers that are freeware/trialware? Or is there such a thing? I have downloaded about 5 different virus scanners, freeware, and none have found the trojans on my computer. Then i tried 2 demos, trojan guarder AND spyware doctor, and they found like 10 trojans! Sooo...is there any software out there that is freeware/trialware, that will remove trojans? I will never download any crap AV software again!

Computer question? So i have a question about my computer. I don't know whats wrong with it, most likely because of spyware of possible viruses or trojans lately my computers been running like a turtle. Now i noticed something big when i go into my c;/ drive there are so many files and they keep growing mostly not normal files they are TMP Files and everything starts with a pos so i.e pos1b7F or whatever so i tried reformatting my computer with my windows xp cd now i have the korean platform and the xp cd i have is the english version but techinically it should still work cuz its the same platform just differnt language. And well it won't work when i try booting it from being logged on my account and when i try booting it from the cd from when i first start my computer. Any suggestions? Btw i have tried trend microcall virus scanner all it found were trojans and i got them removed. Serious Computer Problems (PLEASE HELP!)? I swear to God I will NEVER look at porn again. This is no joke, I'm not laughing. But tonight, I was completely stupid, and downloaded what I thought to be an update for Adobe Flashplayer. Wrong. What I got instead was an absolute plethora of Spyware, Malware, Adware, trojans, and all kinds of other viruses and errors. And plus, my McAfee anti-virus protection had expired months ago, so it wasn't activated when this occurred. I'm currently using the guest account on my computer, since the account I used and screwed up so badly is completely covered in warnings and error messages and offers to scan for viruses, and just a whole bunch of other crap. My desktop picture was replaced with a Windows warning about Spyware, there are pornographic desktop items that keep showing up on my desktop despite my attempts to delete them, and there, like I already said, is literally a collage of warnings, errors, and scan offers vying for priority on my screen. I don't know WHICH ones to believe and which not to. I can't tell which ones are the proper warnings/scanners that came with the computer, or which ones are hoaxes implanted from the porn that are just trying to screw me up more. I'm confused, and I'm scared sh*tless. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me ANY help you can! What should I do? This much must be abided by: my parents cannot know about it, and thus, I can't buy anything to fix it. Other than that, I'm willing to try ANYTHING. Do you know of any free programs I can use to delete all of this? Are there certain procedures I can follow to cure my computer? If worse comes to worse, I WOULD be willing to reinstall my Operating System (which I've done before, and is a HUGE pain). But then I'd have to back up all my files, and get the disc, and reinstall my graphic/sound cards, and go through all that trouble again. So I'll do ANYTHING I can to avoid that. But if that's all I can do, then I would willing to do so. WHAT CAN I DO? ANY AND ALL HELP OR RECOMMENDATIONS OR ADVICE, ETC. WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
